Greypixel, founded in 2011 by architect Ákos Mátételki and 3D Artist József Lipka, focuses on crafting beautiful, detailed, and effective visualizations. Its mission is to assist industry-leader professionals in achieving their goals and leaving a significant impact.
The Greypixel team uses the colormass PBR scanner to capture the optical properties of various physical samples.

Step 1: Send Samples. Greypixel sent us multiple boxes with an array of fabric and finish samples, each piece was carefully labeled so that the samples can be identified during the scanning process.
Step 2: Scan. Once we received the samples we placed them under the colormass generation v04 scanner to record all the detailed reflection properties of the samples.
Step 3: Download. After the scans were completed Greypixel could directly download the scaned data in a form of PBR maps directly from the colormass platform.
Next to the three steps above Greypixel also took advantage of the colormass Automated Tiling Toolset, which streamlined the tiling process. An example of one of the samples is shown below.

Step 4 (Optional): Create stunning visuals. Using the scans, Greypixel then went on to create stunning and photorealistic images that they are well known for. The high-quality PBR maps helped them to achieve unparalleled realism. The precise reflection details captured by the scanner allowed Greypixel's artists to showcase the true character of each material. Fabrics looked rich and textured, and finishes exhibited accurate light behavior, making the digital renderings virtually indistinguishable from real-life photographs.
